Charming 1890s cottage in Braidwood offers a perfect blend of nostalgia and modern comforts

This quaint historical cottage close to the heart of Braidwood is a step back in time but with modern conveniences.

Belle Property Braidwood real estate agent Ashley Williams says 5 Malone Street is more than a home, it’s a slice of local history.

There is a slow-combustion wood-burning fireplace to keep the winter chill away.

To head outside, pass through the French doors, descend the stairs at the back of the house, and head outside the home to see a rainwater tank, chicken coop, free-standing shed, and under-house storage.

“It comes with a typical cottage garden that is already established with flowers and small trees, and there are also fruit trees on the property,” she says.

While the heritage aspects of this property are easy to see, Ashley says you shouldn’t discount the charming town of Braidwood, just over an hour from Canberra.

“There are so many cafes and boutique stores around,” she says.

“The community is fantastic. You walk down the street and can always talk to someone.

“There are plenty of events in the area and the people are very welcoming.”
