This Turner apartment is giving California bungalow (so we asked the seller how she did it)

I send this as a text message (with a Zango listing attached) to my husband/sister/mum/BFF almost every other day. But this time I mean it.

Seriously: how divine is this three-bedroom apartment in Turner?

As soon as I saw it listed by home.by holly on Monday it hit the top of my lust list. And I just had to talk to owner/seller Elle about the stunning space she’s created in the heart of the inner north. I mean, creating a bohemian oasis in an apartment on Canberra’s ‘main street’ – Northbourne Avenue – is no mean feat!

Bree: Your apartment is like a real-life dream! Which places inspire you?

Elle: Oh! Thank you so much! Spending time on the Gold Coast and Byron Bay, my mum had a beach shack which she decorated and I admired, travelling to coastal settings and my brother’s love of the ocean have all inspired me.

Bree: What kind of feeling were you trying to evoke with the space?

Elle: A soft, welcoming and tranquil feeling. Most furnishings are soft or curved to emulate this feeling, and the use of lots of white creates a calm and relaxed feeling in my eyes and doesn’t compete with the beauty of nature just outside.

Bree: What are the key design tricks you've used?

Elle: Only choosing pieces I love and are comfortable. I wanted to be able to have people over and sit all night eating, drinking and laughing at the dining table while still being comfortable sitting there in the early hours of the morning.

Bree: What are your favourite items of furniture and where are they from?

Elle: I don’t have favourites :) Three Birds Renovations are a huge source of inspiration fir me! I also chose home.byholly specifically to sell the home as I find the way they present homes is also inspirational!

Bree: What will the new owners love about living here?

Elle: I hope the new owners love the sense of community and connection that we have experienced in living in Space2. The happiness when the sun rises and comes through the sheer curtains, enveloping the lounge room and the ambient lighting that glows in the evening. I hope the new owners love the feeling of the apartment as much as I have loved creating it and experience many joyous memories!
