The more we think about this Oaks Estate listing, the more it just makes sense

Sometimes, when you’re scrolling through a listing on Zango, the home just keeps giving … and giving. We were 10 photos into this listing on George Street, Oaks Estate, when we realised we hadn’t even seen the half of it.

Set on a massive 2024sqm residential block, it’s actually two homes and a potential home business in one property. Okay, so it’s a little bit random (but hey, almost everything about Oaks Estate is random) but the more we think about it, the more it just makes sense to buy it.

Here’s why we can’t stop thinking about it.

The primary house is ripe for a Hamptons-style makeover.

The third building (with kitchenette) could make an excellent studio or home business.

You’re three minutes away from the best pubs in Queanbeyan.

Something Queanbeyan has lots of (and Canberra has little of) are gorgeous old pubs with excellent dine-in and takeaway ‘pub feed’ options.

There’s the iconic Hotel Queanbeyan just across the railway line, with the Royal, Walsh’s and The Tourist on Queanbeyan’s main streets. The property on George Street is about a two-minute drive to Woolworths and Kmart.

Saying you live in Oaks Estate is a brilliant conversation starter.

Canberra’s ‘forgotten suburb’ is one of the capital’s most historic: dating back to the 1830s.

It’s an eclectic mix of businesses and people, and a little bit like living in a tiny country town, with kids on bikes exploring the streets and easy access to the bank of the Molonglo River for a Sunday afternoon stroll.
