Meet Zango agents: Tim and Justine Burke from Luton Properties

Imagine waking up next to your partner then going to work together, spending the whole day in the office together, going to open homes together, and then going back home together, just to do it all again the next day. It might sound intense for many couples, but for Tim and Justine Burke of Team Burke at Luton Properties, it’s just another day in the office. And they wouldn’t have it any other way.

Both Tim and Justine got straight into working in real estate straight out of school. Tim started in the industry in 2001 at Luton Properties, and honed his skills in property management before moving into sales. He has forged a very successful career as one of the top agents at Luton, and is now a director and owner in the company.

Justine has worked in real estate for almost 15 years, and has worn many hats throughout her career including roles in administration, management, sales, and is now director of Luton’s Weston Creek office.

The husband and wife duo now works side by side every day, and Tim says working with Justine, “just works”.

“It’s good as far as being in a business that takes up so much of your time outside of regular office hours. To be able to work with someone you otherwise wouldn't be able to spend as much time with at home while you're working, it’s fantastic,” says Tim.

“It's a lot of fun actually, it works really well,” says Justine.

“It's a very fast paced industry, real estate, so it works well to work alongside someone who you can trust and who enjoys it as much as you do.”

So do they ever fight at work?

“Briefly - mainly disagreements,” laughs Tim.

“I’ve been there long enough to know what works and what doesn’t work. The things you do fight about are obviously a lot of creative differences every now and again but other than that, you are generally going in the same direction.”

On Team Burke, Tim and Justine are supported by their assistant Julia, and business continues to grow each year.

“For us Team Burke is really about a whole customer experience. From day one when we meet someone, we structure everything the same way. We like everyone to have a really great experience and we've got a really big focus on customer service,” says Justine.

“In our industry, repeat and referral clients are most important. So that's why we want people to have a great experience and then they tell their friends, or they come back to use us again.”

FAVOURITE PLACE IN CANBERRA TO LIVE?

“We love where we live in Curtin - we've had a couple of houses there. It’s very central - central to business for us and it’s a great part of town. We love Red Brick Espresso at Curtin shops - we go at least once a week. We love reserves around Curtin as well – they are just beautiful,” says Tim.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT CANBERRA?

“I think we love the way it’s a big country town and it’s super easy to get around. There are a lot of things to do and you’re not far away from anything. Just a couple of hours from Sydney, a couple of hours from the coast, a couple of hours from the ski fields. If you want to go anywhere, there’s a lot on offer – it’s just a beautiful place,” says Tim.

THREE HOME MUST-HAVES?

“A master bedroom, a really good size bedroom en suite with walk in robe, and fantastic open plan living - because I think these days people really want that in a modern home. We don’t have so many formal occasions as much anymore, so open plan living and really nice outdoor spaces, can really sell a home,” says Justine
