Meet a Zango agent: Dan Cooper from LJ Hooker Woden

With a straight-forward approach to real estate, Dan Cooper’s ability to provide a seamless and stress-free selling experience to his clients has enabled him to enjoy a successful career over the past 15 years.

Originally from rural New South Wales, Dan’s calm, confident style and open demeanour quickly earns the trust of his clients and has created many clients for life.

“I love what I do. I’m honest and I don’t work to boost my ego,” says Dan.

“Clients seem to appreciate that and have said they find it refreshing to deal with someone who genuinely wants to help them achieve the best result possible. When a past client is confident enough to refer me to their family and friends, that’s what makes me proud of what I do.”

During the week, Dan works out of the LJ Hooker Woden office where he’s Licensee In Charge, but it’s just over the hill in Fadden where he calls home.

“I love that Fadden is close enough but it’s far enough away. It’s sort of tucked away there and it’s really accessible and nice and leafy and quiet, which is good.”

Dan is also an accomplished auctioneer, and regularly volunteers his time and skills conducting many charity auctions throughout Canberra.

“I love achieving a good result at an auction, but more so, I love seeing the human element to it,” says Dan.

“Just seeing the emotions, and they really do fly in an auction, and then the relief after is always great. Recently I put a sold sticker across a board and a lovely old Serbian man came out and told me I was a good boy and gave me a cuddle, so he was very happy. And they refer you onto other clients as well, so it’s good.”

He says it’s experiences like that, that keep driving him in the industry.

“Working in real estate, it is very much that every day is different. When you are dealing with people, different circumstances come up all the time, so there is never a dull moment, which makes it quite exciting,” says Dan.

“But I think the connections you make with the clients and seeing them achieve what they want to achieve is really exciting.”

Top three things to look for in a home?

I think a great kitchen is a big plus. I love pools which isn’t great in a Canberra winter, but a nice landscaped garden, modern kitchen and a large entertaining area always helps to attract buyers.

Favourite place in Canberra?

I do love the south side - it's where our office is located. Canberra in general is just a beautiful spot, and the mountains surrounding were a big drawcard for me.

When you want to dine out where do you go?

There are plenty of choices in Canberra. I am a bit of a pub food kind of a guy, so the Kingston Foreshore is always good for that.
