Gorgeous garden for sale in McKellar (comes with cosy three-bedroom home)

The landscaped gardens at number four, complete with a picture-perfect vine-wrapped pergola, are not a well-kept secret on Sinnett Place in McKellar.

Luton Kippax real estate agent Ben Oostermeyer remembers the gardens as being the very first thing that caught his eye when he visited the three-bedroom house.

“The entrance to the home is peaceful and inviting,” Ben says.

“You can bask on the private sun deck, which connects the home to the garden beautifully.

“The deck allows you to use that space privately and then just enjoy so much more of the block, which is about 820sqm in total.”

The sun deck extends from a covered verandah, which runs along the full length of the home’s facade, with lots of room for seating, pot plants and other decorative additions.

But the established back garden is where green thumbs will truly shine, with a rose garden, active bulbs and fruit trees ensuring something is happening year-round.

The terraced design also offers lots of little spaces to explore or entertain guests, all of which are completely private thanks to wrap-around privacy screening.

“You could go up the back where there is a reasonable outlook over McKellar and set up a cosy little entertaining space with a fire pit,” Ben says

But if you’re hosting a larger group of friends or family, Ben says the extensive paved entertaining space at the base of the backyard is the place to be.

On wintry Canberra days when you retreat inside to the comfort of the ducted gas-heated (and freshly painted) interior, Ben says you won’t be sacrificing garden views.

“The house really does have that front-to-back connection to nature,” he says.

“You can enjoy both the front and back parts of the block, but also enjoy it from inside.”

“Extremely well kept” is the best way to sum up the inside of the home, Ben says, which features two separate living spaces.

At the front of the home, a spacious living and dining area features full-height windows with expansive views of the front yard, including its fairytale vine-wrapped pergola.

Meanwhile, at the rear of the home, the family room sits adjacent to the terraced back garden and kitchen, and captures lots of natural light courtesy of its sunny, northerly aspect.

The home’s three bedrooms feature garden views and are conveniently clustered around the main bathroom. Plus, two of the three bedrooms include built-in robes.

Ben says young families inspecting the home have been impressed by the size of the block and its location in the central Belconnen district suburb of McKellar, just a short walk from a number of natural attractions, including Croke Place Wetlands, William Palmer Park and Dulwa Beach.

“The whole suburb has elevation, so almost anywhere you go, you’ve got a view,” Ben says.

The residential block is RZ2 zoned, meaning there is the potential to redevelop the site or for a family to settle into the move-in-ready home now and extend it down the track.

Number 4 Sinnett Place in McKellar goes to auction at 12 noon on Saturday 5 August 2023.
