Fashion designer Collette Dinnigan lists her luxury Rosedale retreat

Rumours that the tiny hamlet of Rosedale, just 12km south of Batemans Bay, is home to a number of Australian celebrities on weekends (including Nicole Kidman) have been confirmed.

The multi-million dollar house for sale at 77 Yowani Road, Rosedale, belongs to iconic Australian fashion and interior designer Collette Dinnigan, who since the early 1990s has built an empire encompassing women's fashion and beautiful homewares.

Dinnigan was the first Australian fashion designer to mount a full-scale ready-to-wear collection in Paris in 1995, and is the designer behind the luxury penthouse suites at Bannisters by the Sea at Mollymook. She’s collaborated with global retailers Target and Marks and Spencer in the past on homewares ranges, and her ongoing collaborations with luxury brands include Qantas, Audi and Dom Perignon.

The hallmarks of Dinnigan’s design aesthetic – romantic, feminine, sensual and individual – drive the design of the brand new four-bedroom home in North Rosedale. The designer and her husband, Bradley Cocks, built the oceanfront home ‘from the ashes’ after losing their original beach shack to the fires of early 2020.

Breathtaking features include a master bedroom that faces the Pacific Ocean and overlooks Jimmy’s Island, Italian marble benchtops and sinks, and a handmade copper exhaust fan. Dinnigan’s beautiful design touches highight every room.

Sales agent for the property Sarah Ralston, principal of Belle Property Batemans Bay, says the house will cost its new owner between $3.9 million and $4.2 million. People have been flying into Moruya Airport from Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra to experience the inside of the luxury retreat.

“They’ve really tried to reflect the natural world in the build,” Sarah says.

“The design has been really well thought-out, with the orientation chosen to capture the sun and the views.

“There are also lots of natural timber finishes throughout, which really draw your attention.”

The property’s ultra-modern features include surround-sound speakers inside and out, solar panels, tank water and an electric vehicle charger.

Beautiful details include a wine fridge, a ZIP water station, gas fireplace in the main living room and underfloor heating in the bathrooms. One of the bedrooms has its own separate entry, while the back deck is the vantage point for sunrises.

Energy-wise, the home is 95 per cent off-grid.

“This is a home for someone looking for something out of the ordinary,” Sarah says.
