Always dreamed of owning a rural property? Say hello to the new LJ Hooker Country team

While we’re pretty spoiled for space and stunning bush views in Canberra – even in the inner suburbs – there’s nothing quite like standing on the front porch of your own rural property with a hot cuppa and “just taking it all in”.

Life in the beautiful towns surrounding the capital is becoming an increasingly attractive option for Canberrans according to sales agent Troy Thompson, one of the driving forces behind the brand new real estate agency LJ Hooker Country.

The agency launched this month to service the growing demand for the rural lifestyle that surrounds the capital, and unites some of the region’s most respected agents including Matthew Herbert, Troy Thompson, Kim Gilbert, Daniel Gilbert, Naish Stormon and Marcus Cataldo.

“We’re excited to have purchased Gilbert Real Estate to help kick start this business – a fantastic rural real estate agency and we are ectastic to bring on Kim and Daniel Gilbert under the LJ Hooker Country banner,” Troy says.

“Kim and Daniel were once owners of LJ Hooker Yass and worked at LJ Hooker Queanbeyan, so it’s a joy to welcome them back to LJ Hooker.

“We love what the country has to offer and in Canberra we’re so lucky to have such beautiful communities only a short drive from the city itself.”

The LJ Hooker Country team is servicing Murrumbateman, Bungendore, Sutton, Braidwood, Royalla, Michaelgo and their surrounds. The agency has a strong focus on land marketing and specialist team for selling land and subdivisions in rural markets.

Property management for country properties is also covered. Former LJ Hooker Yass property manager Lyn Fairweather – a well-known and respected property manager from Yass through to Bungendore – heads up the property management side of the business.

“We think there’s an opportunity to do country property differently,” Matthew Herbert says.

“We want to bring the benefits of a large national brand, a strong LJ Hooker Canberra brand, and work with the country areas to help them tap into the benefits of our incredibly strong Canberra network.

“Buyers for country property are often living in Canberra but wanting a change.

“Listing with LJ Hooker Country means you have 60 of the brand’s Canberra agents helping to expose your property to local buyers.”

Kim Gilbert says being a country agent means delivering more tailored marketing and sales campaigns, and having a deep understanding of the area you’re selling – from the people to the amenity.

“Country property doesn’t always get the same traffic as an inner city apartment so you have to be very tailored with your marketing to find your buyers,” she says.

“It’s just good old fashioned customer service and hard work, there are no tricks.”

The brand new Sunningdale Estate, in the heart of Murrumbateman, is being marketed by the LJ Hooker Country team.
