Just 15 minutes from the city with a lower than average (though steadily rising) median house price, Scullin is an increasingly sought-after suburb for Canberra families and individuals. There are plans to build a local shopping centre, but until then, there are plenty of facilities in the neighbouring suburbs and it’s only four kilometres into the lively Gungahlin Town Centre and light rail network.

This charming little suburb may be right next to the New South Wales border, but it still feels like you’re in the centre of everything. The Watson Shops are a foodie’s delight, with delicious Filipino restaurant Lolo and Lola, and very popular cafe, The Knox Made in Watson, while the main shopping and dining hub of Dickson is a short drive away. It’s also a quick trip across Northbourne Avenue to the Capital Region Farmers Market every Saturday morning. Inhabited by students, families and retirees, Watson was once primarily houses but more townhouses and apartments have been added over the years.
