Meet Ernie

Once upon a time, a young couple purchased a modest home at 27 Ernest Street in Crestwood. This house had everything they needed, and was as special as they could make it. The kitchen had modern light blue cabinetry, space for a family dining table, and large sash windows letting in the afternoon light. The ceilings were laced with the most impressive decorative cornice, as to illustrate to visitors that this was a home to be proud of, a forever family home.

Years passed, and the family grew, more sheds out the back were built, as the walls were peppered with more family portraits, decorations, and memories. Grandchildren came home to 27 Ernest street after school, played with their cousins out the back, and admired Nans treasures in her cabinets, desperate to get a closer look, but never game enough to pry open the glass.

I know this was the case, as this is a picture of Australian suburbia, this is the way it was when I was a kid, and I bet it was for you too.

Today, 27 Ernest Street sits waiting. Ernie, as I like to call him, has been a family hub for over 50 years, and now the first family to have lived their forever here, is ready to pass him over to some new custodians. He needs some love. Someone to help peel back a few layers and inject some life back into his hallways. Someone who wants to stay up late listening to music while painting walls, pulling up carpets, ordering takeaway, making new memories.
