What's in a name: Irinyili (1888 - 1977) was an aboriginal tracker, linguist and ceremonial leader born in the Simpson Desert. His knowledge of the traditions and languages of the north-east of South Australia was impeccable and he assisted many anthropologists with the study of aboriginal culture. He was also a member of the Institute of Aboriginal Studies.
