Hugging the south-west edge of Lake Burley Griffin, Yarralumla is one of Canberra’s most expensive suburbs with a median property price just over $1.3 million. But you get what you pay for - the area is flush with stunning houses, leafy streets, great schools nearby, plenty of history and wide open spaces. It encompasses the picturesque parklands of Weston Park, Yarralumla Nursery, the prestigious Royal Canberra Golf Course, swimming “beaches” and pontoons, as well as a fantastic dog park and dog beach. It’s not far from the hubs of the city centre, Kingston and Manuka, but Yarralumla also has its own quieter neighbourhood shops, which include Canberra’s best kebab spot, Turkish Halal Pide House.
