Tumut New South Wales
Situated in the picturesque Riverina region of NSW, Tumut is a country town located directly west of Canberra on the foothills of the Snowy Mountains. The town nestles a lake which leads down to the beautiful Tumut River – a popular picnic and fishing spot for locals and tourists, and a great place to go kayaking, canoeing and birdwatching. Water sports also feature at Blowering Dam, a huge water system which is part of the Snowy Hydro scheme and the site of the fastest water speed record in the world. There are several hiking and mountain bike trails through Tumut State Forest and Kosciuszko National Park, and when you want to relax you’ll find an array of cafes and restaurants in town serving up fresh, local produce.
