Record-breaking Nicholls home sells for $475,000 over its 2020 sales price

A five-bedroom home on Drummer Street, Harrison, took out the suburb record last week at $2.15m - but if you’re thinking the price is a “one off” or that Canberra is just “going through a phase”, think again.It’s just the start of what will become a tighter and tighter market in the ACT moving forward according to Ray White chief economist Nerida Conisbee.She says over the next couple of years, Canberrans will compete not just with each other for a new home, but with a growing number of investors and an even bigger number of people migrating to the capital from interstate.<img alt="Nerida_Conisbee_Article.png" class="richtext-image full-width" height="533" src="https://d2t3vhau9g43uy.cloudfront.net/media/images/Nerida_Conisbee_Article.width-800.png" width="800">“Price growth in Canberra just isn’t slowing,” Nerida says.“At the end of January, we saw quite an abrupt slowdown in pricing in Sydney but Canberra was different.“It’s continuing to accelerate.”According to Nerida, an influx of people into Canberra during the pandemic - likely to join departments like Defence and Health to assist with the crisis - is just one reason house prices in Canberra have grown 53.6 per cent in just two years. A huge property hidden up the back of Oxley broke the suburb record this week - but who was lucky enough to buy it?It turns out a real estate agent, who heads up his own boutique real estate agency, now owns the keys to the six-bedroom home, three-bedroom home at <a href="https://zango.com.au/sale/27-nunan-crescent-oxley-act-2903-49900/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">27 Nunan Street</a>.
