Part of that vision included attracting the best and brightest minds to the capital; like the mind of Dr Howard Bradbury, a CSIRO scientist working in Geelong. ‘We’ve loved it’: Campbell home of one of ANU’s first academics now for sale

She’s joined by Queanbeyan’s Kylie Maxwell, a powerhouse in property management, who also starts a tenure on the Zango board this year.Both women want to use their skills at board level to push Zango to “an entirely new level”. Holly has a natural flair for innovation and marketing, while Kylie brings 30 years’ industry experience, including owning her own real estate agencies for a combined 26 years.<img alt="IWD_Main_Body_Insert_Image.png" class="richtext-image full-width" height="533" src="https://d2t3vhau9g43uy.cloudfront.net/media/images/IWD_Main_Body_Insert_Image.width-800.png" width="800">“I’m looking forward to bringing some diversity of thought to the Zango board,” Kylie says.“To join Holly and the other board members is a real privilege.”Kylie started her career at Capital Real Estate in Manuka in 1992, later co-owning Maxwell &amp; Co Real Estate for 18 years, and LJ Hooker Queanbeyan for a further eight years. She recently joined property training and consulting company Real+ as ACT, Regional NSW and South Coast Consultant, supporting real estate agencies across the region during what she describes as “a challenging time”.According to Kylie, 30 per cent of property managers left their jobs during COVID, and the industry is struggling to find talent.“We need to change the perception and mindset around the role of property manager,” Kylie says.“Property management is one of those areas that’s known as the ugly step sister.“So I step in to help businesses with processes and procedures, and to embrace and support property managers, and that training starts with the leaders.”When asked on International Women’s Day who inspires them the most, both Holly and Kylie refer immediately to the younger women in their lives.“My three daughters have this tenacity and this courage to be themselves, which just astounds me,” Holly says.“Yes there are people in the industry who inspire me but these are the women I wake up with every day, and they’re the best motivation to show up and be my true self.”<img alt="IWD_Insert_Images2.jpg" class="richtext-image full-width" height="533" src="https://d2t3vhau9g43uy.cloudfront.net/media/images/IWD_Insert_Images2.width-800.jpg" width="800">Kylie’s 23-year-old daughter Chelsea has a similar effect on her mum.“She inspires me to keep it real, and she inspires me to live life by my truth,” Kylie says.“The younger generation of women are strong, independent go-getters. Gender is not a barrier for them.“They have voices and they make sure they are heard.”

Ask Taso Samios about some of his earliest memories living at <a href="https://zango.com.au/sale/78-limestone-avenue-ainslie-act-2602-53932/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">78 Limestone Avenue, Ainslie</a>, and he describes a lush green backyard packed full of young, fit, handsome Greek men and the smell of Greek meatballs.The home was the unofficial club house of Canberra’s Olympic Soccer Club, a sporting club founded by Taso’s dad and owner of 78 Limestone Avenue Tom Samios as a way to connect young Greek migrants to each other and their new home in Australia.<img alt="nostalgia_article_body_images_800_5333.png" class="richtext-image full-width" height="533" src="https://d2t3vhau9g43uy.cloudfront.net/media/images/nostalgia_article_body_images_800_5333.width-800.png" width="800">It was 1955, and a very young Canberra was attracting thousands of men from overseas to literally build the capital “from the ground up”. Tom Samios was the unofficial head of the Greek community in Canberra.“They were wonderful days,” Taso recalls.“Mum used to cook for days and days beforehand and the men would all come over after their soccer game for a party.”<img alt="nostalgia_article_body_images_800_5332.png" class="richtext-image full-width" height="533" src="https://d2t3vhau9g43uy.cloudfront.net/media/images/nostalgia_article_body_images_800_5332.width-800.png" width="800">Taso was a newborn when he moved into 78 Limestone Avenue with dad Tom and mum Barbara in 1950. Tom had purchased the block in the late 1940s and had plans drawn up by now iconic Canberra architect Ken Oliphant. The house was, of course, built with Canberra Red Bricks, trucked over to Ainslie from the Yarralumla Brickworks.Taso’s little brother Nick came along and then an even littler brother Arthur, and the boys had what Taso describes as “a classic Aussie childhood”, playing cricket and footy in Corroboree Park and billy-carting down Mount Ainslie.<img alt="nostalgia_article_body_images_800_5335.png" class="richtext-image full-width" height="533" src="https://d2t3vhau9g43uy.cloudfront.net/media/images/nostalgia_article_body_images_800_5335.width-800.png" width="800">“Limestone Avenue was just dirt and we never worried about traffic as there weren’t very many cars,” Taso laughs.“The houses ended at Grimes Street and there was no such thing as the Ainslie Shops, if you wanted to go shopping you went into Civic.”Taso’s dad Tom Samios was a successful entrepreneur right through the 1950s, 60s and 70s, owning the Samios Milk Bar in Kingston, then a fish shop on East Row - “he’d drive down to Batemans Bay every couple of days and remember, back then, this was all dirt” - and later a shoe shop, Civic Footwear Centre.<img alt="nostalgia_article_body_images_800_5334.png" class="richtext-image full-width" height="533" src="https://d2t3vhau9g43uy.cloudfront.net/media/images/nostalgia_article_body_images_800_5334.width-800.png" width="800">The Samios family’s Oven Door Bakery was an icon of Centrepoint Arcade in the 70s, 80s and 90s.“Mum loved living on Limestone Avenue because she could walk to work at Centrepoint,” Taso says.“That’s the beauty of this home, it’s so close to the city and just this beautiful piece of Canberra’s history.”Tom sadly passed away in the late 1970s, and in 2010 the family added a separate living quarters to the back of the house so Taso and his wife could care for Barbara. When Barbara passed away last month, they knew it was time for the family home to have a new owner.“I don’t mind who buys it, I know it will give them as many happy memories as it gave us,” Taso said.<a href="https://zango.com.au/sale/78-limestone-avenue-ainslie-act-2602-53932/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">78 Limestone Avenue, Ainslie</a>, will be auctioned at 12.30pm on Saturday 5 March 2022.

Or in winter, walking up Mt Ainslie when it’s -4 outside and it’s foggy and there’s just a little bit of light. Then you get to the top of the mountain and the fog is completely blanketed over the city and you can just see the top of Black Mountain tower on top of all the fog. They&#x27;re the sort of things I love that make Canberra so beautiful.Top home must-haves?I think it’s important to look at the light immersion and how that connects between the living spaces and outside, particularly the gardens. I think that adds just a whole other level to a home. Then of course the kitchen. The kitchen is the heart of the home, and you spend a lot of time in there. It doesn&#x27;t even have to be a new kitchen, but you want it to be really centralised in the home and connect the family and all the people that are living there together.<div>
