Sandy Morris named one of the top 50 female agents in the country

As prices in Canberra soared over the past 12 months, so did the number of phone calls making their way to the mobile phone of Sandy Morris.

On the line were former clients of Sandy’s who all wanted to cash in on the record prices being achieved for properties right across the ACT. What that meant for Sandy was “much less sleep and very very hard work”.

It was a mammoth effort that definitely paid off. Not only for Sandy’s clients but for Sandy herself: she was last week ranked number 42 on REB’s Top 50 Women in Real Estate 2022 list. Sandy was the only Canberran to make the list, with sales in 2021 totalling $101.469m and an average sales price of $867,264.

Judges also recognised the low average time on market for Sandy’s listings (28.6 days) and the ratio of listings secured by Sandy to the number of properties sold.

It’s the first time Sandy has made the list, and the champagne cork didn’t stay in the bottle long.

“For me, real estate is about the excitement involved in a sale, particularly for the vendor when they are thrilled with the results,” Sandy says.

A natural people person and a master negotiator, Sandy started a career in real estate in 2007. She launched One Agency Sandy Morris in 2014 and has since grown the agency to nine staff.

Canberra’s deep south is at the heart of the business, with the One Agency Sandy Morris team having major market share in Kambah, Isabella Plains, Greenway, Gilmore, Conder and Calwell.

“Tuggeranong is a great place to live,” Sandy says.

“The hills, vistas and walking tracks are fabulous and we have all the amenities we need.”

While she’s thrilled to be sitting at the top of list of Australia’s best female agents, Sandy’s hoping 2022 will be a little quieter than her previous $100m year.

“This year I just want to consolidate,” she says.

“I’m happy to have a bit of a breather after last year and give more support to others in my office.

“I want to give a huge thank you to all my staff and clients - and the friendly Zango team.

“It’s my name on the list but success comes from having a phenomenal team behind you.”
