Maria Selleck wins residential sales person of the year

After a year of virtual property inspections and online auctions, the ACT real estate sector came together over the weekend to celebrate a year that has changed the way real estate operates.

The 2020 Real Estate Institute of ACT (REIACT) Awards for Excellence were announced at a ceremony held at QT Canberra on Saturday night (21 November) where the principal agent Maria Selleck was awarded residential salesperson of the year.

This award recognises outstanding achievement by individuals in residential sales and is intended for individuals working as principals, licensed agents or sales consultants in small, medium and large agencies and independent or franchise agencies. This prestigious award is not judged on sales figures.

Having achieved a string of awards and record-breaking achievements in the local and national real estate industry, and a loyal base of happy clients, Maria Selleck established her boutique agency Maria Selleck Properties with her husband Gordon in 2009. While her agency has won REIACT awards before, including agency of the year six times, Maria says this is the first time she has won residential sales person of the year.

“I have always been passionate about real estate and assisting people with their real estate dreams. Loving what I am doing is an acknowledgement of a job well done and that I am right about what I am doing,” Maria said.

“The enthusiasm of my clients, friends and family keeps my level of energy and passion at a high level. It is always an honour to win such awards.”

The secret to her success, Maria says, is “focussing on quality, not quantity”.

“Our primary focus is always on quality service, stress-free experience and achieving great outcomes for our clients.”

REIACT deputy president Stan Platis said, “This year, our Awards for Excellence have showcased the adaption, innovation, and education the real estate sector has had to undertake to meet the challenges that COVID-19 created for our members. I would like to congratulate all our winners and commend all the finalists. As in past years, it was an exceptionally strong and tight field.”
