‘It’s been electric’: Response to Strathnairn Charity House a massive win for female build and marketing team

Just six days after the official launch of the sales and marketing campaign for Strathnairn Charity House, the vibe at open homes has been described as “electric”.

Sales agent Cris O’Brien from home.by holly says more than 80 people streamed through the open home on Saturday, with people in awe of the stunning detail and quality finishes of the four-bedroom, three-bathroom property.

The story of the house itself - built and marketed by an exclusively female team and being auctioned for charity - is also a huge talking point for people calling in to inspect the home.

Strathnairn Charity House, located at 41 Rachel Makinson Street, Strathnairn, is a joint venture of Ginninderry and the Master Builders Association. The home was built entirely from donated material and time, and proceeds from the auction will benefit Hands Across Canberra (for distribution to Karinya House), Pegasus Riding for the Disabled and Canberra City Care.

The sales campaign is also female-led, with agents from home.by holly, Ray White Canberra, MARQ Property and LJ Hooker donating their services to market the home prior to auction.

According to Cris, the home’s distinctive floorplan - which essentially offers two homes in one - and its timeless colour palette, had people intrigued.

“We had about 30 groups through on Saturday and people were staying for a really, really long time,” Cris says.

“There’s so much to love about the house: its timeless design, the use of glass throughout the home to allow incredible light to filter in.

“People love the big corner windows, the panoramic view of the surrounding landscape and the Brindabellas.

“The interconnection between the two homes, and the option for intergenerational living has been so popular - families were walking around working out how the layout might suit.”

It’s been a huge week for Strathnairn Charity House, which opened officially to the public last Thursday. The sales and marketing campaign kicked off with a launch party that was “buzzing” and the next morning, the home featured in a segment on Channel 7’s Sunrise.

It’s just the beginning. The agents behind the Strathnairn Charity House marketing campaign will do “everything we can to keep that electric vibe going” Cris says, through videos, social media, flyers, networking and by hosting many, many more open homes.

“We want that momentum to just keep building,” she says.

And how does it feel to be part of an all-female team on such an important project?

“Amazing,” Cris says.

“It’s been a team of formidable women all the way through –- from the beginning stages of design through to build and then through to marketing the home.

“I’m so honoured to be part of it.”

Strathnairn Charity House is located at 41 Rachel Makinson Street, Strathnairn, and will be auctioned for charity at 1pm on Saturday 25 March 2023.

The home is open for inspection on Wednesdays and Thursdays 5.30pm-6pm, and Saturdays 3pm-3.30pm.
