Paul and Libby Davies have a unique love for European resort-style architecture – a fondness put on great display at 13B Bishop Drive in Mollymook.
During their travels overseas, the pair fell for the serenity of French vistas, which included lush gardens and carefully crafted spaces. Exuding refinement and comfort, it’s an ambience Paul and Libby wanted to recreate back home when it came time to retire.
So when the couple chanced upon this 2000s build, set high on a forested ridge just minutes from Mollymook Beach, the decision to buy was an easy one.
“Walking into the home for the first time was one of those rare, life-changing moments for us,” Paul says.
“We stepped out onto the balcony, looked over the valley and just knew this was an opportunity we needed to seize. It was so exciting and became the key to our next stage in life.”
After a year of renovations, Paul and Libby were proudly able to present their home as a destination bed and breakfast, ‘The Ridge Retreat Mollymook’.
The property has since welcomed hundreds of travellers to its peaceful surroundings – with five bedrooms, six bathrooms, multiple living spaces and a 15-metre infinity-edge mineral swimming pool, it’s no wonder.
Entering through the regal, ocean-blue doorway, visitors are led into the first family room. It’s the perfect space to sit and gather, with a modern fireplace, neutral colour palette and gentle downlighting.
Next up is the open-plan kitchen, dining room and lounge. Each area feels bright and fresh, thanks to high ceilings, large windows and banks of French doors to the deck outside.
The kitchen is equipped with Miele appliances and solid granite benchtops. Spotted gum hardwood floors, sleek finishes and timber accents flow throughout, keeping with the resort-style theme.
Each of the four downstairs bedrooms is oversized with its own ensuite, luxurious wool carpets and a view of the lush outdoors.
Upstairs is the private master suite, attached to a pavilion deck that overlooks the landscaped grounds and forest reserve, even glimpsing the ocean beyond.
The home has been a brilliant backdrop for many memories with Libby and Paul’s loved ones, who have often gathered around the pool, shared meals under the covered entertainment terrace, and relaxed in the landscaped gardens below.
“We’ve had some lovely get-togethers out there over the years, hosting Christmas lunches and birthday dinners,” she says.
“We’re staying in the area because we love Mollymook, but it’s time to downsize a little and spend more time with our children and grandchildren.
“We’re not only selling the house, we are giving our boutique business away, hopefully to someone who will take on the loyal customer base we’ve curated over the years. It’d be nice to see someone continue to care for those who call this their home away from home.”
13B Bishop Drive resides on an expansive 2706 square metre, north-facing block.
Sales agent Jo Jones says the property’s unique style, location and investment offering is hard to beat.
“Every single client that has visited the property so far has had that ‘wow’ moment. It’s so serene and peaceful, full of light, a true retreat that makes you feel miles away from the rest of the world,” she says.
“Being so close to the townships of Mollymook, Milton and Ulladulla means boutique shopping, award-winning restaurants, forests and beaches, championship golf courses and hidden surf spots are never far away.
“Whether you’re looking for a holiday investment, family entertainer or private retreat, it doesn’t get much better than this.”
13B Bishop Drive, Mollymook is for sale with a guide price of $2,500,000.
