Country Living Bliss: Embracing the benefits, minus the land hassle!

Luxury living and a rural community come together in this architecturally designed home in the small village of Collector.

home.byholly principal Holly Komorowski says the appeal of 2 O’Sullivan Street is clear from the curb.

“The exterior of the property is stunning,” she said.

“That catches your eye from the street, because of the organic feel of the Tassie oak panelling throughout the home and on the front facade.”

The four-bedroom home also features two bathrooms – both with heated floors, meaning cold feet will be a thing of the past.

The kitchen includes waterfall marble worktops, an induction cooktop, a large oven, an integrated dishwasher and professional grade Oliveri sink plus tap and Qasair 900 mm integrated rangehood.

It also boasts a reverse-cycle bulkhead mounted air-conditioner, a wood burning fireplace and external automated roll-down fabric blinds on all windows.

All this style comes from somewhere – the home was designed by Patrick Roberts, while the lush landscaping is the work of Mathew Woolfe.

“It is a quite striking look, given that traditionally Collector has had a real country look and feel, but you can see that this is an example of the influence of Canberra being not too far away,” she said.

Holly says the property would suit those looking for a change from the big smoke – but still wanting to keep some city style.

“It will certainly inspire people to look outside of Canberra for this sort of property and lifestyle,” she said.

“It is definitely one of a kind, and it’s going to draw people to look to a village lifestyle in the region on the outskirts of Canberra.”

While Collector is known for its long history, this home features the latest of modern technology.

The property has 14 kW of roof mounted solar panels and 20 kW of battery storage, as well as a charging point for an electric vehicle.

The property comes with 60,000 L water tanks and an on-property wastewater treatment system.

“It’s a very energy efficient home and has strong environmental credentials,” Holly said.

Holly says the home would suit a family or couple looking to put down roots.

“I could see this as a home where you could have a young family and form a community over years,” she said.

“The kids would go to the local school, the family would have all the benefits of living in the country without having a huge land component to look after.”

Holly says the 1320 sqm lot has views overlooking the rolling planes and farmland, like many rural homes.

“The views from the home are rural views of hillsides, towards the direction of Bungendore and Lake George,” she said.

“You can see a lot of bush, which isn’t there in suburban Canberra.”

And while the views are stunning, Holly says Collector is known for a slower pace of life than the hustle and bustle of a city.

“There are so many boutique cottage industries that surround Collector now, with wineries and beautiful eateries,” she said.

“There’s a lot of creative makers and designers that have their studios and work and live in the area.”

2 O'Sullivan Street Collector is for sale for $1,145,000 - $1,195,000.
