The Canberra property listing with heart

The property listing for 11 Hibiscus Crescent, Rivett could look like any other, offering a spacious family home tucked away in a pretty spot in the suburbs. But behind the listing is a beautiful story, and a reminder of how much good can come out of people working together.

In November 2019, some very generous Canberrans rallied together at A Starry Night Ball, a fundraiser to support three-year-old Marleigh Fisher who has acute autoimmune encephalitis. The event helped fund a specially trained seizure alert dog which helps keep Marleigh safe during the seizures associated with the condition, among other things.

There were a number of donated prizes on the night which were auctioned off, ultimately raising more than $40,000 for Marleigh’s family. One of the more unique prizes on the night was being able to sell your home for free through Luton Properties.

Wanting to do their bit, agent Matt Negline from Luton Properties not only donated his own time, but approached a number of Canberra businesses to put together a package to completely cover the cost of a house sale.

Matt says that when he approached businesses to get involved, people were more than willing to donate their time and efforts. While Luton Properties is covering the marketing costs and Matt is offering up his own time, selling the property commission-free, he also approached Zango, David Trigg KJB Law, Residential Reports, Rawpro Media Look Property Styling who all offered their services free of charge or contributed to the package.

The winners of the auction item are finally using their price, and have just put their property at 11 Hibiscus Crescent, Rivett on the market, with the auction scheduled for March 28.

The spacious property has three bedrooms and three bathrooms, while a downstairs studio could easily accommodate a fourth bedroom, teenager’s retreat or a man cave. The open-plan living area features a fairly new kitchen, plus there’s fresh paint and new downlights throughout. The decently-sized block has an alfresco dining and barbecue area out the back, established gardens, and some impressive views from the back balcony. And after a long day you can relax in your very own downstairs sauna.

“It's an outstanding property and everything's just done, it's ready to go,” says Matt.

“Someone can put their own personal touches into it but it's ready to just move in.”
