Attention Swinger Hill residents: your ultimate tri-level townhouse inspiration is here

Whether you own one in an older suburb like Swinger Hill or Campbell, or a newer suburb like Coombs or Crace, there’s something quintessentially ‘Canberra’ about a tri-level townhouse.

But when we came upon this stunner at 76 Templeton Street, Cook, this week, we were in awe. She’s the classic ‘kitchen on the bottom, lounge room in the middle, bedrooms up top’ tri-level home, but the styling, maximising the use of the unusual layout and combination of the old and the new is just so right.

Here’s what we’re loving.

The staircase.

Who doesn’t want to head to bed via a spiral staircase? The sleek black railings add a modern touch to the polished timber, while the open space at the top of the stairs provides an opportunity to soak in the second level of the home. The winding stairs tie the upstairs and living areas together beautifully.

Beautiful brickwork.

The original brickwork of this home has been rendered and painted in pure whites and luminescent tones. The result is an uplifting urban-industrial vibe that looks gorgeous. The solid brick - contrasted with the home's timber accents - provides classic mid-century charm. Meanwhile, the striped silver and white wallpaper in the living area gives a cheeky Willy Wonka flavour.

The pebbled floors.

The best part about a tri-level townhouse is always the bottom level - the heart of the home. The pebbled tiles on the ground level of this home run throughout the whole sunken meals area and kitchen.

The river rock tiles form a beautiful natural stone mosaic, creating a flow of seamless interlocked patterns. The ultra modern, yet natural, design provides an earthy feel to the newly-renovated kitchen.

The courtyard.

Double sliding doors open up the living area of this home to a quaint courtyard that is super secluded. Roof height lattice and tall green hedges provide the perfect screening to host a private party.

Low maintenance terracotta tiles are complemented by white pebbles, green grass and colourful mosaics. Can you imagine yourself having a family barbecue or relaxing with a book in this comfortable courtyard? We can!

The location.

The house may be nestled away in its own private cocoon but it is also central to all the amenities a busy family could need. A short walk to the neighbourhood sports oval and mere moments from the Southern Cross Club Canberra (where the adults can play) and Big Splash Waterpark (where the kids can play).

Westfield Shopping Centre and the whole northside CBD are blocks away. If that wasn’t enough, catch an Action bus from the bus stop at the doorstep of your home.

Number 76 Templeton Street, Cook, goes to auction on Thursday 1 September 2022 at 4pm.
