A house is never just a house: a Zango-exclusive vendor shares her success story

When M and her husband decided to put their Aranda property on the market, they had no idea it would break a suburb record. But it did indeed…landing the owners a very impressive sales price of $1.635 million, supported by home.byholly agents Sally Strang and Ash Costello.

The property was marketed exclusively through Zango, and attracted more than 80 people to the first open home alone. 7 registered bidders competed for the property on the day, with the reserve met almost immediately after the auction started.

“We’ve been here 29 years, but this is a 3-storey place with a large garden so we needed to move to a retirement village,” says M. “We contacted a few agents, and it was Sally and Ash who really impressed us. They were so helpful and encouraging with good advice on how to set up for photos and open days. Even though it was freezing and snowing during our first open home, it still attracted over 80 people!”

On auction day, they sat in the car in the driveway to be on hand for consultation as the auction played out.

“It was great to have the Zango coffee van there; it was delicious free coffee. Lots of neighbours came, and we also had the daughter of the people who owned the property before us come to watch. Her parents designed the front and back gardens we enjoyed for so many years, so we gave her some cuttings of their original plants.

“Once the bidding reached the reserve price we were so happy. But then it went on and on and we thought, heavens! It was amazing.”

M says she is so pleased that a young family have bought the home as their children will be able to enjoy all the same things her children did when they were young.

“My children used to love performing concerts on the balcony while we watched from below, which is something the previous owners did with their children too. Now I’m sure this lovely new family will do the same.

“It is such a great neighbourhood; when COVID hit we had a neighbour going to the market for us, another handing pizzas over the fence, and lots of support from others. I’m sure the buyers are really going to love living here.

“The process was all a big unknown for us, but Sally and Ash were great at explaining everything and answering all our questions. I had been on Zango to look up the sale of another home in our suburb so I knew it was a good website. Turned out we had family and friends in Europe, NZ and the US who looked it up on Zango after we listed it.

“We just can’t believe our luck…we’re absolutely delighted.”

Of advertising exclusively on Zango, Residential Property Specialist at home.byholly Sally Strang, says it was a no-brainer.

“There have simply been enough sales now to support advertising exclusively on Zango in Canberra. We’ve proven this across all regions now with strong attendance at open homes, multiple buyers competing for the properties, and incredibly strong prices being achieved.

“The primary advantage of a Zango exclusive is the cost savings. Our vendors were wonderful, and took our advice throughout the campaign. The money they saved in marketing meant they could invest in the presentation of the home to achieve a great result.

“We had a great response with plenty of enquiry, large numbers at open homes, and registration from 7 bidders on auction day where we had the Zango coffee van adding to the buzz with complementary coffees. Competitive bidding continued all the way up to $1.635M, and our vendors are thrilled!”
