On 19 August this year, real estate agent <a href="https://zango.com.au/search-property/real-estate-agents/kelsey-white-2/?listing_type=sale&amp;status=current" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Kelsey Tracey</a> started experiencing light contractions, letting her know her baby boy was definitely on the way.Kelsey, who had worked right up to her due date, continued working from home while her labour continued. She managed to negotiate a sale between contractions before heading to The Canberra Hospital on 21 August for the birth of Maverick McGree Tracey.<img alt="Kels n Mav" class="richtext-image full-width" height="1004" src="https://d2t3vhau9g43uy.cloudfront.net/media/images/Kels_n_Mav.width-800.jpg" width="800">“He was and is just pure joy,” Kelsey says.“He’s changed our worlds in so many incredible ways.”Within hours, Kelsey, 28, returned to work selling homes for Luton Properties, primarily in Canberra’s south. She had 12 listings on the go, and she was excited to continue marketing those properties.On the day she officially put her corporate clothes on she “bawled my eyes out” but Kelsey and Maverick’s dad, Chris, had a plan in place she wanted to at least give a go. The plan involved Chris being the primary carer for Maverick, on paid parental leave, while Kelsey went back to work.<img alt="Mav" class="richtext-image full-width" height="1422" src="https://d2t3vhau9g43uy.cloudfront.net/media/images/Mav.width-800.jpg" width="800">“We always knew that Maverick was going to be born during the busiest time for a real estate agent – Spring,” Kelsey says.“But real estate is so flexible I knew I could not only work remotely but also get out of the house and take Maverick with me to the office.“While I haven’t yet taken him to an appointment with a client, I think any client would appreciate that as an agent, I’m also a human too.”So far, the plan is working well. Maverick is now 11 weeks old and in that time Kelsey has sold 12 properties.“That wouldn’t have been possible if I hadn&#x27;t returned to work straight away,” she says.<img alt="IMG_3705" class="richtext-image full-width" height="687" src="https://d2t3vhau9g43uy.cloudfront.net/media/images/IMG_3705.width-800.jpg" width="800">But, of course, the guilt creeps in.“I feel guilty all the time but I manage it by remembering that everything I’m doing now, the hard work I’m undertaking and the often long hours and late evening finishes, are all to provide the best possible life that I can for Maverick,” Kelsey says.While she knows some people judge her for returning to work so soon after giving birth, Kelsey says every parent’s journey is different. She wants other mums who need to return to work quickly after having a baby to know it’s okay.“Don’t be afraid to ask for the extra flexibility and support,” is her advice to other mums.<img alt="IMG_3704" class="richtext-image full-width" height="414" src="https://d2t3vhau9g43uy.cloudfront.net/media/images/IMG_3704.width-800.jpg" width="292">“It’s okay to be emotional, it’s okay to return to work, it’s okay to still have an identity outside of just being a mother. When little Sophie Luton blew out the candles on her 10th birthday cake, she wished for her mum and dad’s brand new business to be a success.The business, Luton Properties, had launched the exact same day in 1999 from a tiny office in Manuka Court, just off Bougainville Street. Dad Richard had been in the real estate game for six years and earned the kind of reputation that makes one seriously start thinking about going out on their own.
